BAS MAT TALK: Latest News August 2026

Aug 14
4 min read

August is a BIG month at Bartow All Stars! We’re officially settling into our new home, choreography is here, our competition teams are taking shape, and we’re getting ready for the next phase of our season.

Here’s what BAS families need to know this month.

A NOTE FROM COACH MONICA

This Month’s Focus: New Space. New Routines. Next Level.

August feels like a fresh start for BAS.

We’ve moved into our new home, welcomed new athletes and families, expanded our programming, and now we’re heading into one of the most exciting weekends of the season...choreography!

This is when all the work we’ve been putting into skills, conditioning, timing, and teamwork begins coming together.

As BAS continues to grow, our expectations are growing with it. We’re building more than routines, we’re building confident athletes, strong teams, and a program our kids are proud to represent.

Thank you for growing with us.

With BAS Pride,

Coach Monica

We have a NEW HOME!

BAS has officially moved to downtown Bartow!

535 E. Main St. Bartow, FLL 33830

Our new space gives us room to continue building our competitive program, expand tumbling and recreational opportunities, and create even more opportunities for athletes in our community.

We’re still settling in and making improvements, so you’ll continue to see the gym evolve over the next several weeks.

We’re excited for what’s ahead!

All Star Team Openings

Our 2026 competition teams are nearly set, but we still have limited opportunities for athletes to join BAS.

Current openings:

  • Royal Reign: open spots birth years 2014-2019

  • Untamed: is FULL

  • Dollhouse: FULL

If your athlete is interested in joining an All-Star team, please reach out as soon as possible. Once spots are filled, we may not be able to add additional athletes.

Performance Teams

Looking for cheer without the commitment of a full All-Star season?

Our Performance Team program begins September 1 and is designed as a shorter-term introduction to competitive cheer.

Athletes receive:

● One team practice each week

● One tumbling class each week

● Performance opportunities

● Team shirt and bow after completing the program commitment

This is a great starting point for athletes who want to experience BAS before committing to a full All-Star season.

Parent Reminders

  • Tuition is due on the 1st of each month.

  • A grace period is provided through the 5th. Late fees will be applied to unpaid balances after the 5th.

  • Flexible payment plan options for seasonal expenses are available here

  • Continue checking BAND regularly for practice updates and announcements.

  • Beginning July 1, parents will remain in the lobby during practice while coaches lead all instruction on the floor.

  • Weekly tumbling is included for All-Star athletes and is an important part of skill progression. Athlete must enroll and be on the roster for the class ahead of time.

  • Fundraiser packets available—see Coach Monica.

BAS PARENT ACADEMY

Choreography Is Only the Beginning

Choreography weekend is exciting, but athletes aren’t expected to walk out with a competition-ready routine.

After choreography, practices shift toward cleaning:

Timing • Technique • Stunts • Jumps • Tumbling • Performance • Endurance

One of the biggest ways parents can help is simple: protect practice attendance.

Every athlete has a specific job in the routine. When one athlete misses, it can affect an entire stunt group, formation, transition, or section of choreography.

Consistent attendance after choreography is one of the biggest factors in how quickly a team progresses.

Athlete Expectations

Athletes are now on a 1-2-3 system during classes and practices.

Warnings may be given for disrupting class, talking during instruction, disrespect, poor attitudes, or not following directions.

On the third warning, parents may be called to pick up the athlete from class.

What's next at BAS

August is about choreography.

September is about building the routine.

Over the next several weeks, families can expect:

● Competition routines to begin taking shape

● Continued skill development and tumbling

● Performance Teams to launch

● Additional BAS programming

● Fundraising opportunities

● Competition-season information as it becomes available

We’re excited about where BAS is headed. We’re just getting started.

Please review the June schedule and enroll your athlete in the correct class or team by looking at options in the parent portal .
